    Dear Members,

AHBIC have produced an important information update for the Australian Honey bee industry. The attachment below provides information in relation to the use of Oxalic Acid. We remind all beekeepers that Oxalic Acid is not currently registered or permitted for use in honey bee hives by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA).

It is an offence under the Agvet Code and monetary penalties apply to breaches of the code.

Eradication of varroa continues to be technically feasible. We urge all beekeepers to conduct varroa mite surveillance and report their activities to Biosecurity Queensland in a combined effort to prove regionalised freedom from varroa (through the collection of negative data) and to allow the eradication campaign to deliver the successful outcome we are all fighting for.

    Important Information on Oxalic Acid

    Kind regards,

    Jo Martin
