Queensland Beekeepers' Association Inc

Annual State Conferences & Annual General Meetings

Each year the Queensland Beekeepers' Association hosts a State Conference and Annual General Meeting. These events are hosted across Queensland, taking our members to regional locations, major metropolitan centres, and occasionally remote rural locations.

Each year, our QBA branches take turns at hosting this event. This years conference will take place in Townsville, at the Rydges Southbank Conference & Event centre between the 11th & 12th of July 2024.

In 2024, the QBA will host the Australian Honey Bee Industry Council (AHBIC) AGM on Wednesday 10th July 2024. Wednesday evening the QBA will kick off 4 days educational enrichment with the QBA Welcome Event & Networking Evening which will provide a means for our delegates to mingle with our international & domestic guest speakers and experts, in addition to other dignitaries and special guests.

Thursday and Friday (11th  & 12th July 2024) will see the QBA Conference program 'Sustainable Beekeeping Beyond Varroa' delivered to more than 300 delegates, covering topics related to our changing pest and disease landscape, and understanding the challenges that exist beyond our borders.

On Friday evening the QBA will mark a special milestone as we gather to celebrate the 120th Annual General Meeting of our association. This night will see our guests enjoy a 3-course fine-dining meal showcasing the best local produce from Far North Queensland, with all dishes infused with a wide diversity of world class Australian honeys.

Our conferences are a great opportunity to meet and mingle with like-minded individuals, learn from the research and industry development specialists who continue to push the boundaries to support our sector to build strong, healthy and happy bees, and your chances to speak with beekeeping trade specialists who provide a hands on look into the latest innovations in beekeeping equipment and supplies.

Following on from our two jam packed days at the conference, the QBA is collaborating with Townsville City Council, Townsville & District Beekeepers to coordinate the biggest community festival the north of our state has seen with a core bee-centric message.

Planning for this event is currently underway and it is certain to be a great day out for anyone who has a passion for honey bees, beekeeping, beekeeping equipment, trade suppliers, field equipment, market stalls and more.

If you're keen to have a trade stand at the community festival (Saturday 13th July) please contact our QBA Support Officer Steph as a matter of priority (info@qbabees.org.au).

If you're company is keen to support the QBA as we continue to challenge the conventional boundaries of engagement and take our beekeepers on the journey of enrichment, send Steph an email and we'll arrange to send you a copy of our 2024 Annual Prospectus.

With over 11,000 organic engagements across social media and our communications channels, you'd be kicking yourself for not investing in the QBA.

So ensure you mark the 10th - 14th July in your calendar. Bee sure to register to attend our conference today (see the event information below) as tickets are selling quickly and experience why everything is better north of the NSW border.
